Meet the Team


Tim Maczka

Founder and Chairman

Tim has more than 40 years of financial services experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Central Michigan University. As the founder and chairman of Team Financial Group, Tim works closely with all aspects of the business, including funding, underwriting, and portfolio risk management. In his free time, Tim enjoys sports and visiting his three children and nine grandchildren with his wife, Nan.


Matt Maczka

President and CEO

Matt leads our business operations and is also heavily involved in the sales arena, where he develops vendor and client relationships. He thoroughly enjoys learning about and helping every business that we meet. In his free time, Matt enjoys fishing, camping, golfing, and anything else he can get his wife, Meredith, and his four boys to join him in.


Joe Smaby

Founder and Vice President of Sales

Joe has over 30 years of financial sales and management experience as well as a B.S. in finance from Central Michigan University. He uses his extensive industry knowledge to oversee our sales and marketing efforts with a focus on Midwest vendor relationships. Joe enjoys playing golf, basketball, and tennis as well as boating and traveling with his wife Laurie and their three children. He also spends time volunteering for Special Olympics and Georgetown Harmony Homes and donates his time as a youth mentor.


Corey Sandner

Director of Equipment Finance Services

Corey is a West Michigan native with over two decades of business development experience and a focus on equipment financing. Corey graduated with honors from Ferris State University, where he received a B.S. in business administration. At Team Financial Group, he enjoys helping customers with quick credit approvals, developing creative financing solutions, and forming new vendor partnerships. When not spending downtime with his wife, Elaine, and his three children, Corey enjoys shooting skeet and trap at the local sporting club.


Mike Schmidt

Credit Administrator

Mike already had several decades of experience in the finance industry and a B.A. from Olivet College when he joined Team Financial Group in 2007. Now, with almost 40 years in the industry, he works as our foremost expert on all things credit, including credit administration, collections, sales, underwriting, risk management, and anywhere else we need his expertise. Mike and his wife, Diane, stay busy keeping up with the activities of their children and grandchildren.


Tanya Schulz

Accounting Manager

Tanya has put her bachelor’s degree in business accounting from Davenport University and her meticulous attention to detail to good use during her 20 years in the financial service industry. Her responsibilities as the accounting manager at Team Financial Group include accounting, documentation, human resources, and customer relations — along with generally keeping everyone in line. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Adam, and her two children.


Kara Wildern

Operations Manager

Kara came to Team Financial Group in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hope College and several years of experience in accounts payable. Now, with almost 15 years of experience, Kara works as Team Financial Group's operations manager, handling our accounts payable, receivables, invoicing, and customer service. Outside of work, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband, Chad, and the couple's two children.


Carol Berry

Collection Specialist

Carol received her associate degree in business from Grand Rapids Community College and worked as a district manager and insurance broker before joining Team Financial Group. Her responsibilities as our collection specialist include customer service, collections, and being able to pinch a nickel from a penny. Carol enjoys spending her free time with her three beautiful girls.


Michelle Gephart

Inside Sales Representative

Michelle earned her B.S. in business administration at Cornerstone University, and she has decades of experience providing first-rate customer service and care in a variety of industries, including office equipment and equipment financing. During her off hours, Michelle enjoys traveling, camping with friends and family, and hiking with her dog, Marne. She also practices yoga and takes high-intensity interval training classes at the local gym.


Blake Bachelor

Financial Analyst

Blake first joined Team Financial Group as an intern. Today, he works for us full-time as our financial analyst. His responsibilities include credit analysis, underwriting, and account management. He graduated with honors from Central Michigan University, where he studied both finance and management. As a student, Blake served as vice president of the Central Michigan Finance Club and took part in various finance competitions. In his free time, Blake enjoys traveling, playing basketball, golfing, and hunting.


Theresa Skuras

Southeast Michigan Sales Representative

In addition to her 16 years of experience in sales and banking, Theresa has her bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in finance from Walsh College. Theresa loves going above and beyond for customers. Her role at Team Financial Group involves managing sales, marketing, and business development in Southeast Michigan. Theresa enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Christian, their 3 kids and the family’s Chocolate Labrador, Max.


Phil Martin

Business Development Manager

Phil joined Team Financial Group in 2023. He holds a BA in Chemistry from Hope College and 25 years’ experience in capital equipment sales.  Phil is based in SE Michigan and focuses most of his time on markets touched by chemistry.  When he’s not working Phil enjoys hiking with his wife, the art of good BBQ, and the crack of a well struck tee shot.


Will Bulkowski

Account Manager

Will started with Team Financial Group as an intern and then moved to full-time after finishing up college at Michigan State University (Go Green!) with a degree in finance. Currently, Will is an account manager and is learning and supporting other areas of the business as well! In his free time, Will is involved with his church and enjoys any activity outdoors: boating, hiking, fishing, and swimming.
